The 2001 Toronto Marlboros welcomed 2015 in, with 13 games during the first month of the year! Tallying 9 wins and one tie! Once again, the score from the other games was not indicative of just how well this team has been gelling. Many of these players have been on the same team, the 2001 Toronto Marlboros, for 3-4, and in some cases, 4-5 years! There is a lot to be said for enjoying the consistency of working with the same core group of highly dedicated hockey players!
For all the fans of “Hockey Analytics,” this truly is a team to study. The number of power plays that the team has, that the Coach has taught; the amount of ice-time logged on special teams, by those players who have earned the right to participate on special teams, and more! Although analytics can be very interesting to study, this team is best watched “live,” not on paper!
During the month of January, the 2001 Marlboros ventured into the United States, to travel to the University of Notre Dame, to face the finest talent the US had to offer. As the game tallies reveal, that was an extremely worthwhile adventure! This trip was in keeping with the coaching staff’s believe that “education comes first,” and to inspire the minds of these young and upcoming hockey players! What better place to start than the University of Notre Dame ?
February promises to be a very strong month for the team! Only time will tell, but in the meantime, do yourself a huge hockey favor and get out to see the 2001 Toronto Marlboros, in action! If you are a true hockey fan, you’ll love it! If you are a dedicated student of the game, you would be hard pressed to find a better caliber of Minor Bantam hockey… anywhere !
