After a remarkable season of hockey, the 2001 Toronto Marlboros, their parents and Coach Gialedakis reconvened once again to discuss the progress, as well as the future of the team.

The gathering took place at Mind to Muscle and included Joe Costa as well as former NHL'er Daniel Tkaczuk.  It was an informative and enlightening evening to say the least.  The parents were given a real glimpse into the nuances that makeup an athlete.  Discussions pertaining to conditioning, strengthening, stability and flexibility were discussed at great length in order to gage the importance of all aspects of training.  Joe Costa gave a detailed discussion regarding the development of the team as he had them engage in a rigorous fitness assessment.  The results of the assessment would be compared to last year's results and shared with the parents in order to comprehend just how far the team has progressed over the course of last season.

Daniel Tkaczuk, having been in the hockey environment for the better part of his life also added to the discussion and spoke to the families about the importance of nutrition, training and of course rest.  He also provided information that helped the families understand that hockey development is linked to criteria beyond that of simply what goes on at the rink.

Coach Gialedakis, very proudly spoke of the team and their accomplishments in the 2011/2012 year. He also expressed to the families that the upcoming season would be a year building upon the foundation that was created in the previous season.  To coin the phrase "stepping it up a notch" was the motto of the evening and that the team would be exposed to a very intense and focused style of training.  In order to prepare for the team's first year of contact, Coach Gialedakis emphasized the importance of fitness, mental preparation and proper nutrition to ensure that 2001 Toronto Marlboros would once again be a force to be reckoned with.

Armed with an abundance of information, the 2001 Toronto Marlboros and their parents had a great deal of eye opening facts to share with their boys.  Looking forward to the upcoming season, they ended the evening with talks of their upcoming team barbecue and how the fun would soon begin again.
