MOVEMBER
December 1, 2011
  « Back « Previous Next »

Although the 2001 Marlboro’s were too young to grow moustaches in support of “Movember”, they certainly weren’t too young to support their coach’s efforts to keep the tradition going.  Movember is a moustache growing charity that was designed to raise awareness for diseases that affect men, specifically prostate cancer. So Coach Gialedakis did just that and the team really got a kick out of it.

There was also “mo” good news for the 2001 Marlboro’s; that being that the month of November continued to bring a streak of good luck.  With another five wins, and one tie  under their belt to teams like the Rebels, the Jr. Canadians and the Don Mills Flyers, as well as others, the team continued to make use of all the training and preparation over the last two months.

The Marlboro’s also participated in the Chicago Bauer Tournament which further united the team and the parents with a little pre-holiday escape and a whole lot of cheer.  The team played extremely well in the tournament and made it to the semis with a tough loss in double overtime and an 11-man shootout.

The Marlboro organization also held a sale that enabled parents, grandparents, kids and all Marlie supporters to come out and purchase a whole lot of Marlboro attire.  There were sweatshirts, t-shirts, coats and pants all bearing the Marlboro emblem that made for some great Christmas gift ideas.

All in all, the month of November was a success in more ways than one.  The boys’ confidence in one another was apparent as the month grew to a close and they prepared for December.  With Christmas on its way, the greatest gift of all is that their hard work, training and belief in one another continues to lend itself to great success.
